Brief Introduction of Jhang Association

Jhang Association is a non-political organisation of officers BS-17 and above domiciled in Jhang District or having interest therein (working & retired). The Association is working for the welfare of the people of Pakistan in general and those Jhang District in particular has its Head office at Lahore and Chapters at Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Lahore Jhang (male & female), Faisalabad, Chaniot and Shorkot. Founded on December 25, 1987, the Executive Committee and the Chapters meet frequently taking up day to day problems and steps for their redressal.

Following Trusts have been constituted by the Association, which are actively working within of their purview.

1. Jhang Educational Trust:
Deputy Commissioner Jhang is the Chairman of the Trust (Ex-officio) and following are the other Trustees:

  1. S. Asad Ali Shah Member Punjab Public Service Commission, (Retired C.S.P Officer and Chairman of Association).
  2. Justice Manzoor Hussain Sial Retired Judge Supreme Court of Pakistan (HCP).
  3. General Mushtaq Ahmed Gill (Maj. Gen. Retired).
  4. Mehr Jiwan Khan presently Principal Administrative Staff College, Lahore.
  5. Mehr Zulfiqar (Secretary-a Retired PCS Officer).

The Jhang Educational Trust has set up the following institutions at each Tehsil of Jhang.

    Chenab College Jhang:
    Residential Institution from Prep to Intermediate level, English Medium having co-education upto Secondary level and separate classes onward. The college is housed in about 1200 Kanals on Chaniot-Jhang road.

    Chenab School/College Chaniot:
    The Institution has Prep to Intermediate classes (English Medium); temporarily housed in Govt. Islamia College Hostel.

    Chenab School Shorkot:
    Set up in near past as Junior School in a rented building; case of transfer of Statland on Cantt. Road is under process.

2. Jhang Welfare Trust:
The Trust is constituted by the Jhang Association in 1998 after completing its decade, following are the trustees:

S. Asad Ali Shah (Trustee) Member Punjab Public Service Commission, Retired CSP officer and President of Jhang Association.
Justice Ameer Muhammad Malik (Trustee) Retired Judge High Court Lahore
Mehr Anwar Haral (Trustee) Retired Chief-Engineer WAPDA
Dr. Prof. Ghulam Akbar Sial (Trstee/Secretary) Professor of Surgery, Allama Iqbal Medical College, Lahore

The Trust has so far about rupees half million as its reserve funds and accorded the following Scholarships (QARS-E-HASAN) to the most brilliant Students during the year 1999.

  1. Two Medical Students of Nishtar College Multan and Punjab College Faisalabad each @Rs. 500/- per month, for full tenure of their study i.e. 5 years.

  2. Two Students of University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore @Rs. 500/- per month, for full tenure of their study i.e. 4 years.

  3. M.Sc. (ECO) one student (Girl) of Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad for one year, being the student of final year.

  4. The students of Government High School (boys) Shorkot having Secured First two positions in S.S.C. Examination 1999 in School were sponsored by Sahibzada Hameed Sultan, Members of CEC for two years (Inter Class).

  5. Two students of UET, Lahore @1000/- per month for full tenure of their study (got sponsored by a Donor' organisation).

  6. One Student (Girl) of Allama Iqbal Medical College, Lahore @Rs. 1000/0 per month for one year student being in Final year (got sponsored by a 'Donor' Organisation).

  7. One Student of Government College Jhang is awarded Dr. G. Akbar Sial Scholarship.

  8. Miss Bushra Naz topped BISE, Faisalabad in SSC Exam. 1999 in Dr. Qasim Chattha Scholarship @Rs. 5000/- per month was awarded to the said student for 2 years to complete her F.Sc.

3. Central Executive Committee:

Jhang Association apart from the Educational welfare activities of both the 'Trusts' carries out its working under the auspices of Central Executive Committee and its Chapters throughout the years. During the year 1999, the following processings were undertaken:

  1. Cash Awards, Medals, Shields and Meritorious Certificates to the brilliant Students and Heads of Institution who showed good academic performance in HSSC/S.S.C. Examination 1999.

  2. Cash Awards and Meritorious Certificates to Students and Institutions for their best performance in Sports.

  3. Members' individual patronage of distinguished Students/Institutions:

    1. Justice (R) Manzoor Hussian Sial, awarded two Medals with cash prizes to Miss Bushra Naz, of Govt. Girls High School Shorkot City bagging 'First Position' in Faisalabad Board (boys & Girls) in SSC secured Top Position in H.S.S.C. Examination 1999 in Faisalabad Board. Justice Sial has committed this award to the first position holders in future too.

    2. Prof. Talib Hussian Khan, member of CEC awarded Medal to Hina Zameer, a Student of Govt. Girls High School Shorkot City; the girl topped the SSC Exam. 1998 of BISE Faisalabad.

    3. Prof. Farrukh Gillani, President lady Chapter Jhang and member of CEC also sponsored 'Merit Shield' to Govt. Girls High School Shorkot City, being the 'Best Scholl' of the District during 1999.

    4. The CEC awarded Merit Shield in recognition of the Meritious Services of Malik a Head Teacher of Govt. High School 'Long Shumali' rural school on retirement sponsored by Rai Riaz Hussain a member of CEC who adopted that school; two years back the school was at the lowest ebb but due to efforts of the worthy member the result of the SSC Exam is elevated to a reasonable good percentage.

  4. The Central Executive Committee established 'RESOURCE CENTRE' at Govt. College Jhang with a view to scout and guide talented youth to prepare them for different competitive Examinations, e.g. CSS, PCS, ISSB, Judicial, Banking, Overseas Higher Studies etc.

  5. Thesil Education Committees:
    1. The Tehsil (Shorkot) Education Committee under the auspices of CEC, visited 6 institutes of Shorkot headed by Justice (R) Manzoor Hussain Sial with the collaboration of Education Department, Jhang, identified the problems, reported to Educational authorities, solved (if possible) at Association level and motivated the teachers and taught to excel in achieving the lofty objections Quality Education.

    2. Tehsil Education Committee, headed by Mehr Jiwan Khan visited Government College for Boys, Government College for Women and Government Girls High School Jhang; selected students and teachers were contacted; this motivational compaign proved highly useful and serhed as forceful incentive for the youngsters.
